Aaaaah, holidays~! Hurrah! And I'm back home now *u* Even better <3

Photobucket

That's kind of what I did for my palaeobiology course. And that is a thylacoleo tooth being held most beautifully by my friend. Creepy creatures D:

Now, on to to the drawing! *brushes dust off photoshop* c':

... sorry, I didn't really have anything to say in this journal :C

My TUMBLR has a load of updates queued for the next few days, though ♥

Welcome back! When looking at that photo of the tooth, the following things went through my mind:

Wow, ancient people wore platform shoes?
Oh wait, it's in someone's hand. Ancient people carved tiny versions of platform shoes?
Ooooh... it's a tooth. I get it now! :dummy:

Anyway, that sounds so cool! Especially, since the wikipedia article says that the fossils are so rare. It must've been awesome to have been a part of the process of finding and documenting them.

Ahaha, ancient platform shoes! xD Oh, I wish!
The bones are actually bones, not fossils :C The conditions of the cave preserve them really well, even though they are incredibly old. Pretty cool xD

That tooth look amazing. And all those bone fragments look like they would be hard to identify.
Welcome back, by the way.

They were for the first hour or so, but then you learn to recognise small things very quickly. Most of identifying came from the teeth we found though; definitely the clearest way. Also, humerus, jaw and vertebrae are quite defining. :'D
hehe, thanks ♥

I could how teeth, jaws and vertebrae could be easy to identify. Those seem like they would be very defining. It still is amazing how you can tell everything else apart. I can not even think of scientific names without thinking of something weird and entirely unrelated. But, anyway... Wiki says palaeobiology is the study of molecular evolution. Is that what you study? Or are you more of a paleontologist? (first thing I think of when I hear the word fossils)

The guy from the research station there was amazing. He could just glance at a piece of of something and could say exactly what it was from, and what type of bone it was, haha! Must take years of work to learn that much, though.
I study ecology, though I find evolution more interesting than my major! Maybe I should slide over into the palaeoecology area ;D
The coursework focuses a lot more on the molecular science. The field trip was to give us a more hands-on view of the subject. But this is definitely one of the more exciting areas of my degree :'D ♥

:O that is amazing. It is true though. When you study or do things for such a long time, things that seemed impossible can become second nature.
Oh wow, ecology or palaeoecology. That would be a hard decision. Well, my sister told me something once. "Go to collage. Get a degree. Go back and get another one." In which she meant, "You go to collage with an idea of what you want. You ultimately find something you like better. So do not worry about getting it right the first time. Experiment and find yourself in the process." Of course that sounds like a little too much work for me but that might help you.

Ah, no doubt I'll end up doing something like that! haha~ C: There is just so much worth studying ... I want more time =A= I would love to study art/illustration at some point, too. Your sister is smart ;D I have been told similar things; everyone says I am young so it doesn't matter if make the wrong choice ... what I do now likely won't be what I am doing for the rest of my life. It doesn't feel like that, though! xD

I am sure you can study all you want to study. I know a seventy year old that not only has graduated from collage 4 time already but is also going for a 5th time right now. But I can defiantly can relate to that "I can not make a wrong choice or it will change my life forever!" feeling. Somewhere along the way, you just have to realize that life is not your mistakes or your right choices. It is the way that you take it. Because honestly, no matter what choices you make, how can you say that it did not turn out better one way than it would have turned out if you made a different choice. With determination and luck, you can make life into anything you want it to be. With time traveling super powers, you can change the choices you made. So do not burn your self out with regrets and worry. Take life one step at a time since it is only as good as you want it to be. :D
Sorry for rambling. In real life I really do not talk this much.
